This may sound incredibly superficial and petty, but sometimes I just need time to breathe, focus on creativity, and have something pretty to enjoy. Thus, Mani Monday.
I'm a Special Education teacher. I love my job, but some days it is incredibly arduous. I'm fantastic at pushing myself to the limits and am becoming increasingly aware of burn-out symptoms I've seen in others. Therapy helps (more on that later), but sometimes I don't want to talk, I just want to be alone. I started Manicure Monday 2 weeks ago (yes, this is relatively new for me) and have found that it is an amazing tool to help me breathe. I listen to a positive playlist (I can share that too, if anyone's interested) and take time to create something beautiful. I'm not a skilled painter; rarely have I painted my fingernails until recently because I would always pick off the polish when nervous, so it didn't seem to be worth it. However, I found Maniology which has been a game changer for me. I love that I can "nerd out" with Harry Potter and music designs. It's become fun and effective (helping me keep my anxiety in check) to do something feminine (nothing wrong with all people painting their nails, I just personally feel more feminine when I paint mine).
